A Surprising Sight

What a lovely view! When EG drove around Pine Lake this morning on his way to Eldora, he saw a lot of white blobs all over the lake. As the realization came to him that he wasn't in Florida (where he has visited before) but that he was in Iowa, he came back home to get the camera to capture some pictures of PELICANS. Not knowing how long they planned to stay, he hoped they would still be there when he got back. If not, then their visit would have to be called "Pelican Briefs."

So they are not all in Florida! Very interesting. Thanks for the info. They are so beautiful.

We had pelicans on our lake by Des Moines, IA last weekend. They are so beautiful! Nice pictures! We have also been seeing the blue herons a lot this spring!

Blue Herons, awesome! Do you know why they and the Pelicans are passing through? I assume they are here temporarily!

EG says thank you for the compliment. He was glad they stayed around long enough to take the pictures. Quite an unusual sight!

We also had pelicans at the lake we used to camp at in southern Minnesota, they were there most of the summer. I didn't know they were in Minnesota either until then. They are quite spectacular in flight. One of our friends commented that in the sky they look like pterodactyls. Thanks for sharing the pictures, EG! I love those 'aha' moments that make you appreciate all of God's creatures!

EG says, "You're welcome, Mary."
Yes, God has made some wonderful creatures for us to enjoy!

The blue herons actually stay on the little lake by us all summer. They are so much fun to watch--huge wingspans.
